Wegovy Missed Dose (Injection): Timing vs Zepbound

Identify the exact product and the last dose actually taken before doing anything else. Missed-dose instructions differ between medicines and formulations. Do not double a dose or inject again when you are unsure whether you already used it.

The examples here describe current US injection labeling, not every country’s product. Daily tablets and daily injections require their own instructions. [1,2]

Wegovy vs Zepbound: US injection missed-dose timing

For one missed Wegovy injection, the US label says to administer when the next scheduled dose is more than two days away, and to skip when it is less than two days away. Ask a pharmacist if the timing is exactly on a boundary or unclear. Zepbound labeling allows a missed dose within four days; after that, skip it and return to the regular schedule. [1,2] These are different instructions, not interchangeable shortcuts.

A prolonged interruption needs a new plan

The current US Wegovy label directs restarting escalation at a lower dose after two or more consecutive missed doses. [1] Do not automatically resume a leftover high-dose pen. For any product, tell the prescriber how many doses were missed, the previous dose and your current symptoms. Confirm the actual restart instructions rather than extrapolating from a one-dose rule.

Prevent uncertainty from becoming a second dose

Check your diary or app if you cannot remember, and contact the pharmacist rather than taking an extra dose to be safe. If you accidentally duplicated a dose, obtain immediate clinical advice and provide the product, quantity and times. Severe symptoms warrant emergency assessment. Recording each injection immediately afterward and planning time-zone changes ahead can reduce future errors.
