Calculate the average of repeated blood pressure readings, pulse pressure and estimated mean arterial pressure (MAP), with measurement limits and next steps.
Turn your readings into an explained summary
Adult reference only. These categories do not apply to pregnancy, children, arrhythmia or acute illness. Chest pain, breathlessness, one-sided weakness, speech difficulty or altered consciousness require emergency help regardless of the numbers: call your local emergency number (119 in Korea; 911 in the US).

Check arm position before summarizing your readings
This 25-second video shows an arm supported with the middle of the upper-arm cuff at heart level. For English narration, select English (US) in the video’s audio track settings. The on-screen labels remain in Korean. A change caused by measuring position is not a treatment effect. Do not adjust your readings by subtracting a study average.

Worked example
Choose home BP and mmHg. Enter 128/78 and 132/82 on separate rows: average 130/80, mean pulse pressure 50 and estimated MAP 96.7 mmHg. Loading the example replaces existing entries; use it separately from your actual record.
How should I measure and average?
For a U.S. monitor, use the exact model and cuff checklist to check authorization, validation and fit. This calculator still uses Korean/NICE reference categories, not U.S. diagnostic categories.
Use a validated upper-arm monitor and a correctly sized cuff. Rest quietly for five minutes, support your arm at heart level and do not talk. Usually take two readings one minute apart, morning and evening under consistent conditions. Review symptoms and unusually high or low individual readings even if the average is lower.
For a diagnostic home record, the NICE protocol uses 4–7 days, ideally 7, with two readings each morning and evening and the whole first day excluded. Dates and counts alone do not prove protocol adherence. Days with more readings have greater weight in this arithmetic average.
How do home and clinic thresholds differ?
This tool uses Korean/NICE reference thresholds: home 135/85 and clinic 140/90 mmHg. Either number at or above its threshold warrants review. This is not the US AHA/ACC classification, which identifies hypertension from 130/80. Diagnostic thresholds and personalized treatment targets are different.
Average, pulse pressure and MAP formulas
Pulse pressure and MAP use the same included readings and arithmetic mean. Threshold comparisons use unrounded values; displayed results are rounded to one decimal place.
Pulse pressure is systolic minus diastolic. It does not independently diagnose vascular age, artery disease or heart disease.
MAP ≈ diastolic + (systolic−diastolic)/3. This resting approximation may differ from MAP measured by a monitor or arterial line. Do not use it to assess perfusion in tachycardia, arrhythmia or acute illness, or to adjust medication.
Common questions
Must I exclude the first day?
This excludes the earliest dated day, not just the first row. Follow your clinician’s recording and averaging instructions. For a diagnostic home record, the NICE protocol uses 4–7 days, ideally 7, with two readings each morning and evening and the whole first day excluded. Dates and counts alone do not prove protocol adherence. Days with more readings have greater weight in this arithmetic average.
How do I get a PDF?
In the preview, select Print and choose “Save as PDF” in your browser. The report includes the same entries and interpretation.
